World-State Field Notes · Issue 01

The whole world, in 20 numbers — dated and kept.

Every day, machines read the world — the sun, the ground, the sea, the sky, and on-chain money — and forget it by tomorrow. We started keeping the diary. This is Day 1. No forecasts. No hype. Just what was true, on the record, on this date.

DAY 1 OF 20 · first correlations reported ~2026-07-20

The 20 signals · 2026-07-01

Each reading was pulled from a free, public, primary source and timestamped. Where a source was lagging, we say so out loud rather than hide it.

🧠 Top human signal
AI · 5 of 6
5 of the top 6 global conversations were about AI

Three things worth noticing

  1. The world's #1 conversation was AI watching itself. The single loudest human-attention signal on 2026-07-01 was a headline about an AI coding tool marking its own requests — followed by a new AI model, AI for science, and an AI image tool. One of the six was about reading brain waves into words without surgery. We are living inside the story.
  2. Extreme Fear, again. Fear & Greed read 11 — the lowest band — while Bitcoin sat near $59.9k. An earlier stretch (mid-June) logged eight straight days in "Extreme Fear." We note the co-occurrence and nothing more: co-occurrence is never cause. This is a diary, not a forecast.
  3. A feed from the past. The space-weather reading carried an April-2026 timestamp even though it was pulled on July 1 — the government source was lagging. We flag it in gold rather than pass it off as fresh. The point of a diary is honesty about what you actually knew, and when.
How to read this. This is Day 1 of an append-only record. With one day of data, no honest person can claim two of these signals move together — so we don't. The engine that keeps this diary is built to refuse a correlation until it has enough days to earn one (about 20). Check back around 2026-07-20 for the first findings — and even "nothing moves together" will be a real, publishable result. Every number above traces to a free, public, primary source (NOAA, USGS, USGS-NWIS, blockchain.info, alternative.me, LIGO, GBIF, open-notify, CoinGecko-class feeds). Nothing here is financial advice. honest about lag

We keep the receipts here too.

Carter Studio checks — by hand, dated — whether AI actually names your business when a customer asks. No hype, just what the machines say on the day we look.
